Dr Kapilesh Balachandar

Dr Kapilesh Balachandar studied medicine at the University of Sydney after completing a Bachelor of Medical Sciences, which he graduated with first class honours. He subsequently undertook specialist training with the Royal Australia New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and obtained a fellowship position with the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society, pursuing an interest in minimally invasive (keyhole and vaginal) gynaecological surgery. As part of his advanced training, he helped establish and was the inaugural fellow of the Northern Beaches Hospital’s Advanced Gynaecological Surgery (BAGS) program. This equipped him with the technical skills to perform level six endoscopic (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic) surgeries, which are the highest level of complexity in gynaecological surgeries.

Dr Balachandar equally thoroughly enjoys caring for patients through their pregnancies and admittedly, he was drawn to his specialty by the joys of obstetrics. However, he recognise the different stages of pregnancy – from preconception through to the postpartum period – may pose varying challenges for patients and their families. Dr Balachandar provides a supportive, evidence-based approach to help address these issues if and when they arise.

Dr Balachandar is actively involved in teaching, research and clinical governance having been affiliated with and taught through the University of Sydney as an associate clinical lecturer as well as the RANZCOG and AGES Surgical Skills Workshops. He has authored several articles, which have been published in leading peer-reviewed medical journals, and also presented at several national scientific conferences.

Dr Balachandar is committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care in a supportive and compassionate environment. He believes in working closely with each patient to understand their individual needs and help them make informed decisions about their health.
